Hi! I'm Melanie.

Projects

This or That

A side project to continue my TypeScript learnings, with a dash of whimsy thanks to react-dom-confetti 🎉

Guppy

Guppy is an open source desktop app designed to introduce beginners to the React development ecosystem. Originally created by Josh Comeau, I have been actively contributing since July 2018. My contributions include full deletion flow, various Node-related additions, highlight search results, bug fixes, docs, tests, and PR reviews.

Sara Diercks Portfolio

Showcasing projects from UCLA Extension's GIS and Geospatial Technology certificate program.

ES6 All The Things

This cheatsheet is the result of me being easily overwhelmed while learning the ins and outs of ES6 😅 Turns out a lot of people have found it useful - it has over 170+ stars at the time of writing this.

Weather Forecast

Forecast is returned in 3 hour increments for the next 24 hours, in the timezone local to whichever city was searched. The results can be switched between Farenheit and Celcius on the fly.

CSS SNES Controller

I really have no explanation for this one. I just wanted to flex my CSS muscles a bit 😉

Friends Quotes API

I created a Node/Express API to generate quotes from the tv show Friends, because it's quite possibly one of the greatest shows on earth.

Getcoords CLI

This Node CLI uses the Google Geocoding API to convert any address into geographic coordinates. You can run it in your terminal anywhere on your system.

About

I'm a developer with 8+ years industry experience, currently working remotely on the payments team at GoDaddy. I enjoy creating clean, intuitive and performant sites and apps, and over my career have worked with a variety of technologies across the stack. I enjoy tinkering and love contributing to open source.

I'm from Australia 🇦🇺 and am currently living in Portland, OR with my wife and our pet cat, Callie. When I'm not coding, you can probably find me playing video games, hiking, traveling somewhere new, wasting copious amounts of time on Reddit, or playing with (annoying) Callie.
